General Mill Supply has been in the recycling business since the industry was born in the early 1900’s. . Over the last 103 years, our company has grown on a bedrock foundation of integrity, hard work, and reliable performance. We understand the challenges and costs associated with scrap material generation; at GMS, we strive to reduce your landfill footprint and drive cash to your bottom line.

The company, which handles over 140,000 tons of material annually, has expanded its market presence from east of the Mississippi river to the northern regions of Canada. A Fleet of over 100 trailers offer the option of convenient loading at the client site.

  • Genmill Supply Co Plastic Metal Paper Recycling Center

    2010 – Reached 25 million lbs of processed plastic in one calendar year with 3 plastic processing lines

  • Genmill Supply Co Plastic Metal Paper Recycling Center

    2005 – Built custom new state-of-the-art recycling/ processing facility in Wixom, MI. This 65,000 sq.ft modern facility would be used to accommodate processing capabilities and to achieve growth. Added bulk receiving, additional docks, in-ground conveyor systems and higher ceilings.

  • 2000

    2000 – Purchased Shredder for Plastic processing to increase production. Pre-shredding material prior to granulation improved production drastically and decreased on labor.

  • 19981998 – Purchased first Granulator to enter Plastic Processing industry. Ran small parts; broke down large parts to size for granulator to handle.
  • 1984

    1984 – Purchased first horizontal baler used for paper volume and improve handling/ production.

  • 1952

    1952 – Retained sole exclusive supplier rights to Michigan Carton in Battle Creek, MI. Julius achieved exclusive supplier rights to the Mills from honest, reliable, loyal work. The mills entrusted Julius; every load shipping into their mills must go through GMS.

  • 1950

    1950 – Purchases new location in Detroit, MI. Bought an old box plant and transformed into recycling operation. Started with downstroke balers, a 72” Pitt baler for cardboard, and built new office.

  • 19171917 – Julius Rotenberg starts General Mill Supply in Hamtramck, MI. Started recycling cardboard and rags.
